Observed updates
Each time the index saves a new package snapshot it records an observation. Records are classified by commit time. They are not upstream release announcements and do not compare semantic versions.
Only the newest 50 observations in this subscription, not a full archive, upstream releases or installs. Updates-page links keep observation type and package filters; package-page links include all kinds for that package. Your local following list is not sent.
How to read these records
Each record is one immutable version snapshot. The type comes from the timestamps compared when the snapshot was saved. It is not a semantic version, and commit ancestry is not verified.
- First seen
- The first snapshot saved when the index first picked up a package. There is no previous version.
- Revision
- An already indexed package saved a new snapshot whose commit time is strictly later than the previous latest snapshot's commit time and later than when the package was discovered. Equal times do not count as revisions.
- Backfill
- An already indexed package recorded a snapshot whose commit time is not later than its previous latest snapshot, or not later than when the package was discovered. This is catch-up recording of history, not new upstream activity.
- Baseline
- Versions that were already in the index when observation records were introduced. The observed time is the version's original capture time and there is no previous version. It does not say when the version was published upstream.
Commit time is the time written in the Git commit; authors can set it, so it is only used for classification. Observed time is when the index saved the snapshot.
Package names and repositories are current metadata at the time this page is rendered, not the values at observation time. Version labels and commits come from the snapshots saved then.

- e945056ea182 (commit e945056)
A version already in the index before observation records began. It keeps its original capture time and is not a new event.
